Begin to Knit
Fall Session 2: October 6, 2017 - October 27, 2017
Workshops: Thursday 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm / 4 week duration
Location: White Plains, NY (Exclusive)
Week I: Introduction to Knitting - This first workshop, students will learn about the anatomy of the knitted stitch, the tools used to create, and learn how to start knitting. Correct posture, yarn holding, and hand placement will be taught. Students will begin swatches and be given homework to complete.
Week II: Introduction to the Purl - Students perfect the knit stitch and move on to learn and explore more stitch combinations to create and pattern, texture, and ribs. Core stitch swatches will be developed. The student will be given homework to complete.
Week III: Stitch Movement - This workshop focuses on how to manipulate the stitches to shape the piece of knitting. Students will create swatches featuring each technique. The student will be given homework to complete.
Week IV: Finishing - Students will learn how to read a pattern, techniques on how to seam knitted pieces together and finishing practices. There will be an overview of types of yarn and how to tackle projects, supply resources, books and online media.
Materials: These workshops include knitting tools, yarn and materials.
